Honda Fit/Jazz - Lubricants and Fluids

Lubricants and Fluids

Used engine oil may cause skin cancer if repeatedly left in contact with the skin for prolonged periods.
Although this is unlikely unless you handle used oil on a daily basis, it is still advisable to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible after handling used oil.

For the details of lubrication points and type of lubricants to be applied, refer to the illustrated index and various work procedures (such as Assembly/Reassembly, Replacement, Overhaul, Installation, etc.) contained in each section.

Lubrication PointsLubricant
AEngineAPI Service Grade: SJ or SL fuel-efficient oil
SAE Viscosity: See chart.
BManual transmissionHonda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF).
Always use Honda MTF. Using motor oil can cause stiffer shifting because it does not contain the proper additives.
CVTHonda CVT Fluid (ATF).
Always use Honda ATF-Z1. Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality.
CBrake system (including ABS/VSA line)Brake Fluid DOT 3 or DOT 4
We recommend Genuine Honda Brake Fluid. Using a non-Honda brake fluid can cause corrosion and decrease the life of the system.
