Steering Rack Guide Replacement
Manufactored in except HATC
NOTE: During removal/installation, do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the gearbox.
1. | Loosen the locknut (A), then remove the rack guide screw (B), conical springs (C), holder (D), needle roller (E), and roller (F) from the steering gearbox. |
2. | Grease the inside of holder and the sliding surface and circumference of the roller. |
3. | Install the roller, the needle roller, and the holder onto the gearbox housing. Wipe the grease off the threaded section (G) of the housing. |
4. | Install the conical springs onto the holder. NOTE: Make sure the number of the conical springs and the direction when installing. |
5. | Apply sealant to the threads on the rack guide screw, then install and tighten it to 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18 lbf·ft). Loosely install the locknut. |
