Steering Rack Guide Replacement

NOTE: During removal/installation, do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the gearbox.

1.	Loosen the locknut (A), then remove the rack guide screw (B), conical springs (C), holder (D), needle roller (E), and roller (F) from the steering gearbox.

2.	Grease the inside of holder and the sliding surface and circumference of the roller.

3.	Install the roller, the needle roller, and the holder onto the gearbox housing. Wipe the grease off the threaded section (G) of the housing.

4.	Install the conical springs onto the holder. NOTE: Make sure the number of the conical springs and the direction when installing.

5.	Apply sealant to the threads on the rack guide screw, then install and tighten it to 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18 lbf·ft). Loosely install the locknut.

Adjust rack guide screw. After adjusting, check that the rack moves smoothly by sliding it right and left.
