I am interested in a Subaru Legacy Wagon
Car: Subaru, Legacy, 1995 - Back to Fix-It - Subaru Legacy Repair Manuals
Q.I am interested in a Subaru Legacy Wagon--1995 to 1999-,but have heard there were problems with the transmissions in some or all of these vintages. Any truth to that.
I already checked/done: I have searched the internet, but found nothing definitive.
Answer Tyher has allways been problems with the seals rolling inside the trans and the 4 whhel drive actuator-but it seems to be more sporadic of a problem and more commn if the fluid is not changed or overheated. The head gaskets and oil pumps are prone to leakin especially the 2.5 98-02.
Addition This not responsive. What is tyher?
Answer Like any vehicle-if you ask about a problem-that is what you will hear about. Yes there are issues with the trans. Does it mean the one you are looking at is going to go bad? There are a lot that never have a problem-it all depends on how its driven and maintained. The sympton is a delayed shift into drive or reverse usuallly on a cold start. The other problem is with the 4x4 actuator-it will cause the car to shudder on tight turns when hot and accelerating.
