Replacing timing belt.

Q.I have a 1994 acura legend.
When I replace the timing belt I had the service manual and made sure all the things that were suppose to line up were. I do not understand what I did wrong if they were lined up. I had a Mechanic there with me making sure everything was right too. the other part to my question is are those marking always suppose to line up every time the car is started. to they go back to those positions when the car is shut off?

Answer Hello, the timing marks line up every 2 revolutions of the crankshaft(the cam sprockets are twice as large as the crankshaft sprocket) The alignment is only important when you install the timing belt, as long as it was lined up properly at that time you should be good, the engine stays in whatever position it was at when it was shut off.
So, what is the problem you're having?

Addition my car was running fine for about two weeks. I drove it yesturday during the day, but when I went to go out that night it would not start. Will the timing slip out if not installed correctly.

Answer Not usually unless the tensioner fails, So you likely have another issue that's causing your problems. Does it crank and just not start?

Addition It sounds like it will start than it will just keep going. Kind of like there is no gas, But I have a full tank. So yes it does crank.

Answer One thing you'll want to check is the main relay, it's by far the most common cause for a new start on these vehicles, It's what turns on the fuel pump and the engine controller, Iv'e included an illustration below showing it's location.

Addition What is the way to check that or do I just have to buy a new one?

Answer It's difficult, but If you have an ohm meter you can check it,

Attach the battery positive to the No. 4 terminal and the battery negative to the No. 8 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check for continuity between the No. 5 terminal and No. 7 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.
If there is continuity, go on to step 3.
If there is no continuity, replace the PGM-FI main relay and retest.
Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 6 terminal and the battery negative terminal to the No. 2 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check that there is continuity between the No. 1 terminal and No. 3 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.
If there is continuity, go on to step 4.
If there is no continuity, replace the PGM-FI main relay and retest.
Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 3 terminal and battery negative terminal to the No. 8 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check that there is continuity of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check that there is continuity between the No. 5 terminal and No. 7 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.
If there is continuity, the PGM-FI main relay is OK. If the fuel pump still does not work, go to Harness Testing in the next column.
If there is no continuity, replace the PGM-FI main relay and retest.

Addition I will let you know if it works or not later after I get my hands on one of those OHM meters. I have the service manual so I do have the entire diagram for the fuel and the engine controller. Thank you much for your help so far. If that checks out I would like to stay in contact with you since you have been of more help than the last person you I talked with around 0230 this morning.

Addition I have one more question. I was looking through the service manual last night and was looking at the fuel system and noticed it said to change out the fuel filter every four years or 60,000 miles. I have never changed it myself and I have had the car for 3 years. I talked to my father who had the car before me and he has not done it since I was 18 or 19. I am 25 now so that would mean around 6 or 7 years. Do you think that could be the problem?

Answer It's not likely, fuel filters very rarely clog up anymore, though it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it.
