Codes P0118 and PO128
Car: Acura, TL, 2000, 3.2 - Back to Fix-It - Acura TL Repair Manuals
Q.I have an Acura 2000 TL. I am getting the following codes P0118 (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor 1 Circuit High) and P0128 (Coolant Thermostat - Coolant Temp below thermostat regulating temp). How Do I fix this issue.
More Info required Is the engine temp running in the middle of the guage?
Any recent service?
Addition NO recent service. Engine temp running in the middle of range. NO overheating so far. Normal temp indications after driving for 15 mins.
Answer Acura has a bulletin for the code P0128 because under certain conditions the PCM software will set the code in error. But since you have the P0118 I would try replacing the coolant temp sensor first and clear the code. The P0128 is likely caused by an inAcurate temp reading from the coolant temp sensor.
Addition Can you show me where the coolant temp sensor is located? A graphic depiction would be very helpful.
Answer Sure it's labeled ECT sensor in this pic. You will need to remove the plastic cover from the top of the motor( 4 10 mm bolts) to get at it .
